I saw a good post today on orting.blogspot.com.
Here’s a summary….
This could have been an opportunity for endless promotions for the struggling San Diego Fox5 News.
Just think: A World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox would mean tons of viewers for Fox5 watching Manny Ramirez face his old team.
Then, Fox5 could promote the heck out of its glamour girls such as Kathleen Bade, Arthel Neville and Chrissy Russo from its bumbling news shows.
Well, bad news for the Dodgers and Red Sox could mean worse news for Fox5 … if the Dodgers and Red Sox don’t make the World Series; forget about high rankings for Tampa Bay vs. Philadelphia.
And even more so in San Diego, forget about the multitude of viewers who could be inundated with Fox5 News promos during the World Series.
Low ratings would certainly be the order of the day for Rays-Phillies; just as low rankings now follow Fox5 news because it still isn’t up […]

I came across a good post today on orting.blogspot.com.
Have you watched the local news yet on the new “Fox5 San Diego?”
If not, don’t bother.
The show has more glitches than the Padres have had in 2008.
On Friday, Aug. 8, the evening news looked like a 1920 “B” movie in pantomime.
Kathleen Bade was talking, but you couldn’t hear the sound. The picture even went off for awhile; but when it came back on, still no sound.
That followed a weekday morning show when Chrissy Russo sounded like an echo while doing the weather. Arthel Neville had to take her microphone off then go over and hold it for Chrissy to be heard.
Speaking of Chrissy, that map she stands on while doing the weather has to go. And when she goes to a location where there is an accident then holds a “Slow” sign; that, too, has to be ditched.
Kathleen Bade, Chrissy Russo and Arthel Neville may be easy on the eyes […]

You’ve heard about the gals who will work for “Fox 5 San Diego” when Channel 5 San Diego officially switches to the Fox network in August.
You’ll have former CNN reporter Arthel Neville and former Channel 6 weather/traffic gal Chrissy Russo working “Fox 5 Morning News.” At night, you’ll have Kathleen Bade (formerly Channel reading “Fox 5 News at 10″ and Susan Lennon (formerly of KUSI) doing weekends.
What about the guys?
That’s where Troy Hirsch comes in. He will soon be introduced as the sports director; becoming the first male in the lineup.
Hirsch formerly worked for Fox Sports Northwest and most recently as the sports director at KSWB-TV (Channel 5) before the Channel 7/39 reporters began doing nightly news on Channel 5.
So what does this all mean for San Diego?
We will now have six stations doing news in the morning – and all six producing their own shows at night.
Considering that […]
