I found an interesting post today on sddialedin.com.
The day after my anniversary show, my wi-fi quit on me. I planned on writing, but instead had to catch up with real life…like cleaning my house, doing laundry, running errands, job hunting, and realistically, catching up on my shows, being a hermit, listening to music, sorting through e-mail and trying to figure out how I’m so behind on everything when I have so much time on my hands. Oh, and if you’re on Twitter, it is so easy, when the wi-fi comes back, to just lose whole chunks of time reading tweets, following links, and reading online articles that people post.
But then there was Wednesday and I was back, ready to participate in real life. Jake and I had tapas at Cafe Sevilla before the CityBeat party. After the CityBeat party, we saw Dead Confederate at the Casbah. You can read all about it if you click ‘keep […]

I have to say I was so nervous about Monday. I celebrated the first year anniversary of this website at the Ken Club last year with Swim Party, Writer, and Pocket Utopia, and it was awesome, but it felt more like a birthday party or like when I held my high school’s 10 year reunion…people could hang out or watch the bands, and it was just a big social event. While I’ve helped promote shows, never was I given the reins to book a show, and I booked bands that I love and hoped people would show up and be equally as enthusiastic as I am about the music they were hearing.
Well, clearly, I should’ve worried less, because Writer and Joel P. West are both amazing local acts, and people were enthusiastic about Low Red Land from San Francisco, despite most not having seen or heard them before. It […]

sddialedin.com had an interesting post today.
Brother and Sister duo Angus & Julia Stone are in town from Australia and playing The Loft (in the Price Center) at UCSD on Monday. I promise I will post listings on Monday for all the great shows happening this week, but in the meantime, consider checking out Angus & Julia at the Loft because they’re great and by the time it is over, you can still race to the Casbah to catch Grand Ole Party.

I read an interesting post today on sddialedin.com.
Before I get to this weeks listings and a week’s worth of overdue recaps, I want to thank everyone who came to the Casbah last night. I knew that the bands I put together were amazing in their own right, but I was completely humbled by the turnout and all the love. I couldn’t have done it without Writer, Low Red Land, and Joel P West, but to all the loyal SD:Dialed In readers, you made it a truly amazing night. It was definitely the best Monday I’ve had in a long time, so perhaps I’m not so Anti-Monday anymore. Special thanks to Tim Pyles, Tim Mays, and Sezio for bringing out such a huge crowd. And, of course, my love to Jake for being my designated driver.
I hope to do it all again soon. And, just a preview, for those of you who stay in San Diego for […]

Rosemary did an interesting post today on sddialedin.com.
Last night, Greg Laswell performed the second of two shows at the Casbah. Matt Curreri and The Ex-Friends opened the night. Unfortunately, I arrived after they had finished, but if you read this site, you know I love them, and unlike the people who were there but were supposedly loud and chatty near the bar, I would’ve been up front and center, most likely making faces at Kevin.
Greg Laswell has been on tour for quite some time now. He said the longest he was home in 6 months was 9 days. Unfortunately for us, “home” is now Los Angeles, so we don’t even get the good fortune of seeing him around the neighborhood anymore, but his tour has come through a few times, so he always makes sure to give San Diego his love.
He’s touring with a full band, so even his saddest songs sound a bit […]

Rosemary posted something interesting today on sddialedin.com.
Here’s a quick excerpt:
It’s not out of the ordinary for me to check out a show at the Casbah two, three, even more times in a week. I’m a huge fan of the place, and the boo
